Defense Minister Katz threatens Khamenei: “Similar fate to Sadam Hussein”
Israel and Iranian tensions escalate with references to former Iraqi ruler.

United Nations, 06/17: By Ahmed Ali
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a direct threat to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, stating, “Be careful you don’t end up like Saddam Hussein.”
As a result, his rhetoric has been widely interpreted as an assassination threat. Following this, military strikes were launched by Israeli forces on June 13th amid tensions over Iran’s nuclear program.
While Iran remains public about its nuclear intentions, Israel and the U.S.—led by Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu—strongly oppose them, citing global and regional threats. Nevertheless, Ayatollah Khamenei has refused to dismantle the program.
Farhan Haq, spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, condemned all threats, stressing that rhetoric inciting conflict is unacceptable.
The spokesmen contended, “well certainly we are against any threats of the leaders of any of the UN member states, and we want to make sure that there are no actions taken including rhetorical.
Spite this, the UN’s role remains unclear. With that in mind, following an Iranian strike on an Israeli intelligence building in Tel Aviv, global observers remain alert, urging both nations toward de-escalation.
