the syrian interior ministry published the confessions of the perpetrators in the case of young ayat al-rifai, who occupied syrian public opinion, namely her husband, father and mother, confessing to her murder and permanent abuse.
ahmed al-hamwi, father-in-law of ayat, said in a video posted thursday on her facebook page: “the actions of the girl we did not like, we were beating her up and down and cooperating with my wife and my son to beat her.”
“on the night of the incident, i hit her on the head and body with a bamboo stick because of the hot water and the loss of one of the repair screwdrivers,” he said, adding that his son then hit her on the head.
“an hour later, my second son came and told us that ayat was neither from her or her sleeve.”
“on the day of the incident, we had lunch and my father hit her twice on the head and body, and then she went to the room to find out why she disagreed with my father, so we fought and hit her head against the wall several times, and she got out of the room and left her alone,” said the victim’s husband, ghaith al-hamwi.
he stated that he and his brother had taken her to the hospital, and that he had tried to hide the truth from her family, and the mother-in-law of the victim had confirmed the sayings of her son and husband.
