Pope Leo Slams ‘Shameful Disregard’ as Gaza Deaths Mount and Aid Halt Looms
On Wednesday, June 25th, another 62 Palestinian civilians were killed across the Gaza Strip. According to Pope Leo, the newly appointed head of the Catholic Church, the killings show a “shameful disregard for international law.”
Meanwhile, Israel’s National Security Minister Ben Gvir called for a “complete halt” of humanitarian aid to Gaza. “The humanitarian aid currently entering Gaza is an absolute disgrace,” he said. “What is needed in Gaza is not a temporary halt to ‘humanitarian’ aid, but a complete stop.”
Today, 15 more Palestinians were reportedly killed in a new wave of Israeli airstrikes. Experts warn the Israeli attacks are becoming more destructive by the day.
In addition, many continue to criticize the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). Experts argue the group fails to deliver food and essential supplies effectively to civilians in need.
According to Gaza’s Government Media Office, 549 Palestinians have now been killed while trying to access aid at GHF sites. Another 4,066 have been injured.
